BOUNCING SOULS ROCK MONTREAL

Last night, the Bouncing Souls rocked Foufounes Electriques in Montreal, with guests Luther, and Dave Haus.  Luther are a pop punk band from Philadelphia, and they started off the show.  Their set was not the most energetic, but they definitely played with a lot of heart.  Keep your eyes out for these guys the next time that they come around, they will not disappoint!

Following Luther, was a solo set by Dave Hause, of The Loved Ones.  This man is a fabulous musician, and has amazing on stage presence.  He was incredibly keen on getting the party started for the Bouncing Souls, and he even called a guy out for Facebooking in the front row – incredible.  His lyrics are as honest as his words; and my personal favorite part of his set was a new song called ‘Autism Backseat Blues’.  Even though his guitar strap broke within the first song, he was quick to laugh it off, and keep playing.  It was an amazing set, and if you’re into powerful solo musicians a la Dustin Kensrue (of Thrice), I urge you to pick up one of his albums that are part of a collection of 7″ records.

Dave Hause was followed by the Bouncing Souls.  My only complaint about this set was the sound mixing – the vocals were near inaudible at some points of the show.  This aside, they played an AMAZING set.  It was a great mix of old tunes that I wanted to hear, and new tunes of their newest album, ‘Comet’.  My personal highlight of the set was hearing ‘Hopeless Romantic’, ‘Lifetime’, and ‘Kids’.  They played ‘East Coast’, which was awesome, but coming from a Newfoundlander, you really can’t sing about the East coast, until you go to the most east of coasts.

All in all, it was a great show with a wide variety of music to be heard from all three acts.  Finally getting to see the Bouncing Souls was well worth the wait.  They played an awesome, high energy, feel good set.  If you like having fun, I would definitely suggest seeing them the next time they come around!
