| OSHEAGAMusic and Arts festival presented by Virgin Mobile is proud to partner with Galaxie Your Musical Universe, to offer the Galaxie Osheaga channel on TV and on mobile as part of the Galaxie digital audio service with select distributors for a limited time. In addition, the Galaxie Rising Star Progam is encouraging emerging talent by awarding cash prizes to two winning artists from among performers on the Galaxie Tree Stage during Osheaga.The Osheaga audio channel is available as one of the Galaxie channels on TV to Videotron iilico and SaskTel MaxTV subscribers and on a subscription basis via the Galaxie mobile application for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android devices. The channel will be available until September 5th to allow for everyone to relive great Osheaga memories. The channel features many of the artists performing at the 2012 edition of Osheaga presented by Virgin Mobile and highlights a wide variety of Canadian talent who will be gracing the different stages during the event.“Galaxie is excited to create and make available an Osheaga channel that highlights the outstanding musical talent and diversity that will be represented at this increasingly important summer festival”, explains Gary Pelletier, Vice President of Marketing, Stingray Digital and Director of the Galaxie Rising Stars Program. “Evenko’s programming team, organizers of Osheaga, have selected a stellar line-up for this year’s festival, and the channel will proudly feature emerging Canadian acts who will appear on stage alongside international musical superstars,” Pelletier added.
Galaxie will award two Canadian acts performing on the Tree Stage with cash prizes that will help further their careers. The Galaxie Rising Star Program promotes emerging Canadian talent by providing showcase opportunities, monetary awards and potential airplay on the Galaxie channels. This year, the winners will be determined by a public vote, taken via the Galaxie website (galaxie.ca), combined with scores by an official jury. The show, created with the help of astronomers from the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, uses music by The Search Engine, images from Kev’s personal archives as well as an array of material provided by the astronomers themselves. The performance presents a remixed version of the album, as well as new and exclusive material that provides spectators with a unique experience.
