ROCKFEST 2012 – DAY 1

2012 marked the 7th anniversary of the D-Tox Rockfest, and this year’s lineup was the biggest and best. Day 1 was headlined by heavy hitters like: Devil Wears Prada, Planet Smashers, As I Lay Dying, and Bad Religion. The day was topped off by an amazing performance from Nu-Metal pioneers KoRn, who delivered the goods with a great mix of crowd-pleasing favourites peppered with some of their newer material.

The sun greeted us as we woke, and it was a welcome companion throughout the day. The opening act was the winner of the Rocker Contest 2012: Openfieldz. They were an awesome surprise with a great sound and a very addictive stage presence. Here’s hoping that we get to see more of them sooner rather than later.

The punk acts of the day included Goldfinger, Good Riddance and Montreal’s own Planet Smashers who rocked hard and injected some intense energy into the crowd.

Metal and hardcore fans were treated to performances by Blackguard, Obey The Brave (featuring the returning Alex Erian, formerly of Despised Icon) along with icons Bad Religion and Voivod.

KoRn closed the show out as only KoRn could: balls to the wall. They opened with the tracks “Divine”, “No Place To Hide” and “Good God” before transitioning to the newer cuts “Narcissistic Cannibal” and “Kill Mercy Within”. Other tracks included “Here To Stay” and the crowd-pleasing Pink Floyd cover “Another Brick In The Wall”.
