SMILES FOR LIGHTS IN MONTREAL
LIGHTS came back to Montreal last Saturday, after nearly a year of touring across the world. She opened her set with Second Go and her fans immediately sang along, setting the energetic mood of the night from the start. She then proceeded to play every song of her first album, The Listening, as well as her new song My Boots and a cover of Rancid’s Fall Back Down. But the peak of her performance was definitely her interpretation of The Listening, which was intense enough by itself to give you goosebumps; coupled to Pretend (Reprise) that she played alone on the keyboard and Romance Is…‘ (a song from her Acoustic EP), it was clearly the most emotional moment of the show. All lighters and cell phones were out to shine a soft light on the crowd. But it was only a short pause in the party mood of the night; soon enough everyone was back to dance! The public bounced and clapped until the very end and LIGHTS decided to come back for an encore where she played for us a new song – entitled Cactus In The Valley – she had written this summer while on the road. She left the stage with a big smile on her face, and every fan looked as happy as her.
