AEROSMITH TAKE OFF AT THE AIR CANADA CENTRE

The show started off with a very load photo pit while we tried to keep our cameras in focus on the long runway out to the centre of the audience of 13,000 fans at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. For some reason my cheap earplugs I was comped at NXNE seemed to be falling out of my head. But as I have always said…the closer the better…and tonight we couldn’t get much closer the the big theatrics and loud sound.
Aerosmith started the show off with “Draw the Line”. and included hits “Love in the Elevator” and “Livin’ on the Edge”. Aerosmith’s soon to be released new album “From another Dimension” has now been pushed from an August release date to a November date. Even though the band has critized frontmen Steven Tyler for joining the judging panel of “American Idol” Tyler and Joe Perry after all these years still displayed a close brotherhood bond up on stage, constantly leaning into each other, and sharing the same microphone for dueling vocals and a perfect togetherness photo opportunity for the press photographers.
Even in their sixties the two senior rockers still have what it takes to kick it out there to the fans, both with perfect vocals and very talented guitar playing by Perry. Perry looked great in his glitter jacket and his black pat shoes while showing off a different guitar on every song. He even managed to flip one of his guitars over to show the crowd a Canadian flag sticker. Steven Tyler is still looking good as he started the show fully clothed including a top hat and sunglasses, then peeled down to his tight leather pants and leather vest even at the age of 64. I can see now why he makes his daughter proud. Steven belched it out on their love ballad “I don’t want to miss a thing” as the audience of Cougars cried and cheered love chants at Tyler.
Joey Kramer performed a 15 minute drum solo right after his drum platform was pushed out to centre stage and even managed to use his hands and head for part of the solo. Then Bassist Tom Hamilton kicked a bass solo out just before the band jumped in with Sweet Emotion, and back-up singer guitarist Brad Whitford held his own next to Joe Perry. The show was load and colorful for a legendary band that started in the 70′s proving the old guys still got it.
