RX BANDITS FAREWELL TOUR: MONTREAL GETS TO SAY GOODBYE
It was the last time last Sunday at Petit Campus that we had the chance to see RX Bandits performing live. Unfortunately, on April 12, 2011, the band announced that their forthcoming summer U.S. tour would be their last. I felt really lucky to have the chance to see this band for their last time in Montreal.
Zechs Marquise and Maps & Atlases were opening for them. RX Bandits took over the stage a little after 10pm. The crowd was fun to watch; people of all ages and all different kinds of styles were there for this punk/ska band. Formed in 1995, they had the chance to have lot of fans since then!
The crowd was so happy when they came on stage; they were screaming and applauding them. They were into every minute of their performance. RX Bandits started with a jam session and then played songs from their full length Progress released in 2001 such as VCG3, All the time and Consequential Apathy. It was kind of a greatest hits of all of their albums. They also played Pal-Treaux, Dinna-Dawg, Apparation, In Her Drawer among others. Their set was diversified and played slow, rock and reggae songs. The fans were singing along during all the performance and it was really amazing to see and hear. It was also a little sad at the same time knowing that they were giving their last concert here. The band really gave us all they had; they put on an energetic concert and we were able to feel the appreciation they had toward us.
I never saw this band live before and I am really glad that I had the chance to see their last concert. They said that they are not splitting up but just stopping touring… So maybe we can hope that in the future they will change their minds and that they will miss being on tour! Who knows!
