OTTAWA BLUESFEST DAY 12: STAGE COLLAPSE
Ottawa Bluefest 2011 came to a abrupt end Sunday afternoon. A freak storm system ripped through the festival, picking up signs, garbage cans, debris and collapsing the main stage just seconds after the band Cheap Trick was rushed off the stage due to lighting.
The grounds were evacuated all festival goers, vendors, volunteers and beer tent staff rushed to take shelter in our War Museum as the storm with tornado like force created havoc. Festival Security and emergency response personal were fast to respond and control the situation, it was announced the remainder of closing night performances were cancelled.
The stage fell away from the crowd onto a tour bus parked behind the stage, an area that is normally used by photographers and festival personal.
Good news is, shockingly there were no serious injuries and all have been released from hospital.
