| June 15, 2011 | Comments (302)

Yesterday, evenko and the city of Montreal held the press conference regarding the upcoming shows of U2 in the city – July 8th and July 9th. The shows were supposed to be held last summer but had to be cancelled. Fans have been holding on to their tickets for way more than a year now and they’ve got quite a show coming up their way!

The U2 360° shows installations require thousands of hours of works! The construction has began on May 6th and will continue until July 7th! Other interresting facts are:
- Circumference of the track: 1 mile
- Width of the track: 100 feet
- More than 2,000 hours to design, develop and implement the plans for the temporary site
- More than 95,000 hours (all jobs combined) to build the site and its infrastructure (the equivalent of nearly 50 full-time jobs for a year)
- More than 300 technicians, fitters, riggers, electricians, carpenters, sound engineers, lighting technicians, laborers, crane operators, drivers and engineers to build the stage

Much more of these interresting facts can be read here!

Also, to make it easier for everyone attending the concerts, the Montreal Public Transit (STM) has created a unique fare card that will be on sale as of June 27 at the McGill and Berri-UQAM métro stations, and at other stations as of July 4. For only $5, you’ll benefit from unlimited travel on STM buses and the métro the day of the concert (July 8 or 9). With its unique look, this card will be easier to validate at the turnstiles and will speed up your entry into the métro stations. The STM has even covered a few buses with the U2 look for the events! Check out the bus below:

These two shows will certainly be very memorable for everyone attending! Don’t have your tickets yet? Don’t worry! Click HERE to get your tickets now!
