The first annual Carolina Rebellion in Charlotte, NC was a huge success, if judging by the sold out crowd of 33,000 “rebels” in attendance. The music began at 11:30 AM and continued nonstop until almost midnight. Performances alternated between the Carolina Monster main stage, the adjacent Rebellion Monster main stage and the Jägermeister side stage.

As the sun began to set, Seether took the stage and brought out special guest Lzzy Hale of Halestorm to sing with them on Broken. Stone Sour then tore apart the Rebellion stage, led by Corey Taylor’s intense performance. Darkness had finally fallen over the hot, sunburned crowd by the time Three Days Grace hit the Carolina stage. They powered through hit after hit, culminating with singer Adam Gontier climbing the scaffolding on stage during Animal I Have Become. Sully Erna and Godsmack worked their “voodoo” on the crowd as the closing act on the Rebellion stage. The evening ended with a powerful performance from Avenged Sevenfold. Their energy on stage made the presence of the late Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan almost tangible.

All in all, it was a killer line up and a well run festival. Rumor has it that there are plans to add a second day next year.
