HOT WEATHER PLUS COOL TUNES EQUALS ART OF DYING IN HOUSTON DURING THE AVALANCHE TOUR.
In the middle of some HOT weather, Houston concert goers were treated to some cool tunes thanks to the Avalanche Tour making a stop at Reliant Arena.
The Canadian alternative rock band Art Of Dying opened the show with their hard hitting music pumping through the sound system. After the first song, frontman Jonny Hetherington told the crowd that the band loved the heat and that statement drew plenty of applause…
Then he went to say that Canadians and Houstonians are really a lot alike. Some things in common were a fondness for beer and having an appreciation for women in cowboy boots (and not wearing much of anything else). THAT got the crowd aroused too.
But really, the crowd was rocking out because Art Of Dying sounded so good. They performed their latest single “Die Trying” and many future hits such as “Whole World’s Crazy”, “Straight Across My Mind”, “Best I Can”, and “Get Thru This”. Of course, all the tunes are off their new CD “Vices And Virtues”.
After the show, Hetherington, Greg Bradley (guitar), Tavis Stanley (guitar), Cale Gontier (bass), and Jeff Brown (drums) greeted fans at their merchandise booth.
Live ‘N Loud Magazine was expecting nothing less than a terrific show since we spoke with Tavis Stanley by phone earlier in the day. He said Art Of Dying was very excited to be a part of the Avalanche Tour and the future was looking so bright. We joked about the heat at that point and that led to a conversation on how the single “Die Trying” as well as the CD “Vices And Virtues” were totally on fire and climbing the charts.
“Travelling in an RV and seeing the open road has been an amazing experience,” Stanley went on to say. He said they all take turns driving – except Hetherington, and then he laughed!
