CISCO OTTAWA BLUESFEST 2010 – DAY 13
Local boys done good Hollerado graced the main stage to open day 13 of the 2010 Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest and played to a small but familiar crowd. Hollerado pulled out all the stops with confetti, pixie dust and back-up singers thrown in for good measure. This foursome has been touring non-stop for the past year, and while it was a tight and entertaining show, they seemed a little tired and perhaps ready
to take dome time at home in bustling Manotick.
Jimmy Cliff played the last show on the Claridge stage for Bluesfest 2010. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Cliff brought a crowd of musicians and singers to support his show and they certainly proved worthy of backing-up the reggae icon. There was a veritable United Nations of colors and cultures in the crowd, clearly all fans of the Caribbean beats offered by Cliff and his band.
American alt-rockers Weezer brought their high energy show and sweater vests to the MBNA stage to close out Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest 2010. Rivers Cuomo sporting his distinctive preppy “Buddy Holly” look offered a high energy and
interactive show with his bandmates, much to the delight of the mixed crowd; Weezer has clearly hooked the sons and daughters of their original fans to span generational lines.
Rivers was kind enough to borrow my DSLR (which was offered from the pit) and proved that he may have missed his calling as a photographer!
Bluesfest 2010 ended on a high note (no pun to the Jimmy Cliff fans…) and left everyone streaming from Lebreton Flats waiting in anticipation for the official announcement of next years line-up!
